How to Get to Borneo Cottage Maratua
Planning your journey to Maratua is an exciting part of your adventure. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you plan your trip:
- Entry into Indonesia: Plan to enter Indonesia either via Jakarta, Surabaya, or Balikpapan. There are direct flights from Singapore to Balikpapan via Scoot, and from Kuala Lumpur to Balikpapan via AirAsia.
- Flight to Berau: Batik Air operates flights from Jakarta and Surabaya to Berau.
- Arrival Time: Aim to arrive at Berau by 2 p.m. This allows for same-day transfer to the resort on Maratua Island. If you arrive later, you may need to stay overnight in Berau and head to the resort the following morning.
- Transfer to Maratua Island: Once at Berau, our team will meet you and arrange your transfer. The journey from Berau Airport to the jetty takes about 20 minutes. The boat ride from the jetty to Maratua Island takes approximately 3 hours (1.5 hours following the river and 1.5 hours from the river mouth to the island).
Please note that boat transfers are subject to sea and weather conditions. Normally, the latest boat departure from Berau Jetty is before 2:00 p.m.
For your departure flight, please book any flight leaving Berau at 11:00 a.m. or later. If you book an earlier flight, you will need to depart the resort a day earlier and stay overnight at a hotel in Berau.
