Maratua is remote — and that is exactly the point. We coordinate all transfers in advance, so once you land in Berau, everything is arranged.

Getting to Maratua

Fly into Indonesia

The most common entry points are Jakarta, Surabaya, or Balikpapan.

From Singapore, Scoot flies direct to Balikpapan. From Kuala Lumpur, AirAsia flies direct to Balikpapan.

Connect to Berau

Batik Air operates flights to Berau (BEJ) from Jakarta and Surabaya. From Balikpapan, connect onward to Berau.

Transfer to the jetty

Our team will meet you at Berau Airport. The drive to the river jetty takes approximately 20 minutes.

Speedboat to Maratua

The boat journey takes approximately 3 hours — around 1.5 hours along the river, then 1.5 hours across open water to the island.

Important: Arrive in Berau by 2:30 p.m.

Boat departures from the jetty are weather and tide dependent, and the last boat normally leaves before 2:30 p.m. If you arrive in Berau after this, you will need to overnight in Berau and continue to the resort the following morning. Please plan your flights accordingly.

Leaving Maratua

The return boat departs Maratua in the morning. After the river crossing and drive to the airport, you should have sufficient time for flights departing Berau from 11:00 a.m. onwards.

If your flight departs before 11:00 a.m., you will need to leave the resort a day early and stay overnight in Berau. We can assist with accommodation recommendations in Berau on request.
